Takeaway drill

  • Setup position. photo 1
  • Swing the club away from the ball with a smooth hinging of the wrists around the right reg, try and get the shaft parallel to your feet, keeping the distance the same between your hands & body
  • Club face starts to rise and rotate into a vertical position above the hands. photo 2
  • Swing the arms & hands just outside the right leg, no weight has been transferred onto the right leg.
  • Too much rotating of hands & arms will cause the club face to open into a flat swing position. photo 3
  • Stiff wrists at the start when rotating the upper body will cause the club to shut down & create a steep swing position. photo 4
  • Feel the difference in the weight of club at the top of the swing when you start the swing correctly! photo 5
